Wintertide

The Wintertide series began with the Angel & Shepherds illustration. As with my architectural works, I was interested in trying to evoke what it might be like to experience a celestial being—the scale and emotion of that encounter. Inspired also by Christian iconography, I created a few following pieces in this experimental style chronicling scenes from the traditional Advent and Christmas narrative.

I continue to add new pieces each year, expanding beyond the liturgical themes into further depictions of winter’s beauty. There is an elegance to the quiet and slowness of the long nights and cold days. Like the peaceful longing and waiting of the Advent season, Wintertide invites us to wrap ourselves in warm coats and take in the stillness while we patiently await the return of the summer sun.
